Flood Control Commission

Make recommendations as to expenditures of funds derived from ad valorem takes for flood control and drainage purposes. Recommended priorities for action recognizable or defined flood control projects. Recommend zone of benefit boundaries with technical assistance from district staff. Hold necessary hearings to develop and recommend the establishment of zones of benefit to the Board of Supervisors. Make recommendations with respect to proposed state or federal legislation affecting flood control activities. Perform necessary liaison to be able to make recommendations regarding projects that involve other agencies. Make recommendations as to means of financing projects including proposed assessments or tax rates if financed locally. Hold such hearings as directed by the Board involving flood control or drainage matters and make recommendations for Board action. Interview and recommend to the Board of Supervisors consulting firms to perform studies and prepare plans and specifications for flood control projects when necessary. Act on any other specific matter regarding studies, hearings, legislation, tax rates, etc. as directed by the Board.
