The Workforce Investment Board shall perform these duties as provided for in the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 and other such duties which are reasonably necessary to discharge their responsibilities under the Act in accordance with the By-laws of the WIB. The WIB shall operate as the lead agency for implementation of the Workforce Investment Act in Tulare County. The WIB will direct the disbursement of funds for workforce investment activities. Increase the involvement of the business community, education institutions, organized labor, government agencies and community based organizations, economic development agencies in workforce investment activities. Identify, implement and administer effective approaches to increase employment opportunities for job seekers. Operate as the lead agency for implementation of the Workforce Investment Act in Tulare County. Provide workforce investment activities through statewide and local workforce investment systems that increase the employment retention and earnings of citizens. Provide workforce investment activities through statewide and local workforce investment systems that increase occupational skill attainment by citizens. To act as a catalyst for business retention, expansion and to be a forum for all workforce policy.
